Paint Your Own Watercolor with Photoshop CS

I was working on a photo yesterday and thought I would share with you a quick tip on "painting" your own watercolor in CS3.  To the left is the photo straight out of the camera....

I wanted to do something a little more artistic so I selected Filter > Artistic > Watercolor....

This brought up the Watercolor effect - to view the photo, on the bottom left corner of the dialog box click on the minus sign until you can see more of your photo.  Then on the top right I set the brush detail to 6, the Shadow Intensity to 1, the Texture to 2 (you will want to play with these settings until you get the look you are going for).

I added a title and stroke edge and ended up with this image which I printed out on my Epson R1800 on watercolor paper (personally I use paper from the Mead Watercolor pads that can be purchased just about anywhere)

There you have it - a simple five minute process to your own art - I am going to frame this and put on my fireplace mantle...
